Dear Diary,
I haven’t written for awhile. I was very sick with a plague known as The Black Death. Around 23,840,000 people died, although I was a very lucky one and did not die from this horrible epidemic. It caused a great economic problem. From so many people dying there became a huge loss of workers. Since my father was never diagnosed with the plague he received higher wages and still is. The higher wages helped me by keeping me healthy by buying more food and more blankets for my family and me. Meanwhile when I was sick my brother was sent to one of the many 100 year wars. He never came back from fighting in the war. We don’t know if he is dead or living somewhere else or maybe even captured by another group. My little sister Rosy had caught the Black Death. Since she was only 2 years old she died, because she wasn’t strong enough to stay alive. My mom has been very upset from losing 2 of her 3 kids, so I haven’t really talked to her that much. That is why I have come back to my diary to write in it. Through out the Black Death all my friends where dying off. I have been lonely very much and haven’t had any friends to talk to. Many people call my family lucky since we still have me, my mom, and my father. Hopefully I will have time to come back and write in my diary tomorrow.

Love,
Sarah
